Our Standards
Quality You Can Trust
Quality at Jetlak is not a department. It is a culture. From the farms where we source raw materials to the shelf where you pick up our products, every step is checked, verified, and held to the highest standard we know.

Certification
KEBS Certified Manufacturing
Every Jetlak product is manufactured in compliance with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) requirements. This means our manufacturing processes, ingredients, labelling, and finished products all meet the national benchmarks for food safety and quality.
KEBS certification is not something we obtained once and forgot about. It is an ongoing commitment that requires regular audits, process reviews, and continuous improvement across our entire production operation.
Supply Chain
Direct Farmer Sourcing
We do not buy raw materials through middlemen. Jetlak works directly with Kenyan farmers, building relationships that give us full traceability from field to factory. When we know exactly where our peanuts, fruits, and oats come from, we can guarantee the quality of what goes into the finished product.
This model also supports the farming communities that supply us. Direct sourcing means better prices for farmers, more consistent demand, and a supply chain built on trust rather than transactions.
Partnership
AgriFI Kenya Challenge Fund
Jetlak is a recipient of the AgriFI Kenya Challenge Fund, an EU-funded initiative that supports agribusinesses in building sustainable, transparent supply chains. Through this partnership, we have strengthened our farm-to-factory processes and invested in the systems that ensure raw material quality at scale.
The AgriFI programme has allowed us to deepen our relationships with farming cooperatives, improve traceability systems, and implement better quality controls at the point of sourcing.
Our Process
Manufacturing Standards
Raw Material Testing
Every batch of raw materials is tested before entering production. Ingredients that do not meet our specifications are rejected, no exceptions.
In-Process Quality Checks
Quality control does not wait until the end of production. We test at multiple stages throughout the manufacturing process to catch and correct issues early.
Final Product Verification
Before any product leaves our facility, it undergoes final quality verification. This includes lab testing, packaging integrity checks, and sensory evaluation.
Transparency
Addressing the 2019 Aflatoxin Recall
In 2019, Jetlak Foods voluntarily participated in a KEBS-directed recall of peanut butter products after elevated aflatoxin levels were detected in certain batches. We take this seriously and believe in addressing it directly rather than pretending it did not happen.
Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring toxin produced by fungi that can affect groundnuts and other crops, particularly in warm climates. It is an industry-wide challenge across peanut-producing regions globally, not unique to any single manufacturer.
Since 2019, we have made significant investments in our quality control infrastructure. These include enhanced raw material testing protocols, improved storage conditions to prevent fungal growth, closer partnerships with farmers on pre-harvest and post-harvest handling, and more frequent batch testing throughout the production cycle.
The recall was a turning point that accelerated improvements we were already working towards. Our commitment is simple: every product that leaves our facility must be safe, and we will continue investing in the systems that ensure this.
